AI Branding vs Professional Branding: When You Should Use AI

It’s no secret that artificial intelligence is advancing, and with society having unlimited, unrestricted access to it, people are using it for everything, all in the name of it being “helpful.” It’s spread everywhere, and is now being used for things like copywriting, social media, and even communicating with other people (which is absolutely wild). And as a brand and web designer, I’ve seen a huge rise in people using AI branding. Again, all because they think it’s helpful. But let me be clear, using AI for your branding design is NOT helpful, and in fact, will only hurt you in the long run. Let’s get into it. 

Should You Use AI Branding?

Here are some reasons for why you should use AI for your branding design:

  1. You want something really generic. 

Maybe a brand design with zero personality and zero meaning just really calls to you. You don’t really care about how it looks, you don’t care about emotional depth, you just want some lettering slapped on a background and to call it a day. 

  1. You want people to think “I’m impressed with how little effort they put into this.”

Because who wants to buy from a business who puts effort into things? 

  1. You want to ignore your audience’s emotions.

Forget the fact that 95% of people have reported making purchases based on emotion. Don’t worry about making your potential customers feel things when interacting with your brand. It’s totally been proven that that doesn’t matter at all 😉. 

  1. You’re totally fine with the ethical grey area of AI stealing artwork from existing designs. 

I mean, who cares that art and designs created by an actual human are getting ripped off?! 

  1. You want your audience to forget your brand. 

No, there’s totally no comparison between your AI-generated brand and your top competitor’s, who just invested in a brand designer. Yours is for sure gonna be wayyy better. 

If you can’t tell, I absolutely hate AI design. It’s unoriginal, wasteful, and comically tone-deaf. But when you give people an easy, free way to generate things, they’re going to use it. Just know that something being “easy and free” will reflect in what it generates. So if you want a brand design that’s lackluster and fully void of personality, AI branding is for you.

Why Professional Branding Beats AI Branding Every Time

If you’re trying to create a timeless, emotionally resonant, and elevated brand, using AI would be the biggest mistake you could make. Your potential clients will sniff it out and avoid your brand. AI lacks texture and depth that is crucial to building a timeless and flexible brand. 

A brand designer’s work is rooted in strategy, artistry, and feeling. And that’s what your brand deserves. A non-human design will never be able to evoke human emotion the way that a human can, and your brand should make people feel things. It should be a whole experience, not just a logo slapped on a solid background.
